UPDATE: H.O.P.E. AZ hosts a huge multi-dimensional shindig for our families today. They did hair and nails, gave shoulder massages, can't even list all the games! Over 120 volunteers and 350 families served. All donated! More information to come...
The DJI is down how many percent? Wars and rumors of wars. Reminds me of a line from a generational great movie, Breakfast Club, when Bender says "He'll get up, we'll all get up, it'll be anarchy!" Hagadaga!
The MSM goons spread doom and gloom like they are running a salt truck in the middle of a snow storm in Milwaukee - more is better - without regard for the rusting of minds and hearts all across the world.
I believe they are WRONG. I can prove it.
I am the principal of a school that serves children of homeless families. We don't benefit from the traditional tax base and bond initiatives that fund schools. We rely a great deal on donations from the community.
You'd think that because of the panic in the economy - donations would be down to a trickle and that volunteers would disappear.
Its the opposite. Hearts to Hands, Office Max, PLS, Joy Christian Academy, ASU College of Nursing, Our Kids Sake, and so many private individuals have stepped up and made HUGE contributions to the lives of children who in most cases have nothing. Our food and clothing rooms continue to fill up, even as we distribute 100's of items a week.
(When I say nothing - it would be hard to define what that means since most of them aren't fully aware of what they don't have.)
So, in the immortal words of Flavor Flav of PE "Don't Believe the Hype" of the lounge lizard socialist club (main stream media types, including their consumers).
I want you to know that it's pretty good out there. People are good. They are giving, even in the smallest of ways, of themselves, their time, their resources - and it is making a difference.
You won't hear about this on the news. Nothing to see here, move along. But everyone should know about our homeless children. Everyone should know that life is brilliant and that people are amazing!
Come and see for yourself.

good post. great breakfast club quote. i'm overwhelmed with all of the bad news put out there (it would seem for election purposes)- thanks for a positive thought!
Thanks for this uplifting post. It makes my heart happy to know that your school is receiving so much good. It's wonderful!
Great post. Your perspective comes from a much better place of where most of us would guess the doom and gloom would hit. I'm glad people are still giving and not giving in to the hype. Besides the news, life is going great with all those that I run into. I see lots of people that are getting a service I provide that they don't have to have . . . and despite losing thousands in the stock market and one of the two lose their job they are not ready to lose their life style and realize that they can afford much. So few of us are dependent on the Dow Jones average, so why does it get so much attention new report after news report? Thanks for your perspective Jarret.
yes- thank you! Like a breath of fresh air. I am so tired of the media's portrayal of life. Not accurate. There is so much good, hope, potential :)
We just found your group man blog. Laughed my head off. Andy wants to be a part of your gang. He wants to hang out with the cool kids. I linked it to my blogroll, can't wait for new posts.
Thanks for the inspirational post. Nice to see some positive people still living out there...
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JARRET! We love you SOOO much!
(PS. I need your email address. I accidentally erased a bunch of my address book.)
